1. Announcement of WinGS Career and Research Talk: Global glass research authority with industrial and academic careers

On Friday, October 18th, an on-campus public seminar will be held by John C. Mauro, a researcher invited by SG FResHU Support.

The speaker is Dr. John C. Mauro.
After earning a PhD in glass engineering, he led the development team for new materials at Corning Corporation in the United States. He has received numerous international academic awards, including the Woldemar A. Weyl International Glass Science Award.
Since 2017, he has been a professor at Pennsylvania State University, where he is active in a wide range of academic research fields, including basic and applied glass science.
Furthermore, she has built successful careers in both industry and academia while maintaining a work-life balance. In this lecture, she will share her insights on topics she wishes she had known when she started working, such as "10 things I wish I had known when I started working," and will also give a specialized lecture on glass science in the latter half of the session.
No prior registration is required, so please feel free to come.

2. Announcement of "MeetUp for Global Networking"

Every year, our support office provides subsidies for inviting overseas researchers (SG-FResHU Support) and the WinGS (Global Networking Award) which subsidizes a portion of overseas travel expenses. This year, we will once again host a seminar where past award recipients will share their experiences in international networking.
