We held an interim progress report meeting on March 31st and presented our research findings!
Everyone, who usually works in their own separate research labs, was able to gather together for the first time since the field adventure and catch up on what each other has been up to.

Everyone worked hard not only on their research but also on preparing their presentations, creating easy-to-understand slides and practicing their oral explanations extensively. The entire support staff was impressed by the high level of work, which exceeded our expectations.
For the participants, this was not only an opportunity to hone their presentation skills and gain a deeper understanding of their own research, but also to learn about the research topics of other participants, which seems to have strengthened their motivation to work even harder in the future.
I hope they will inspire each other and challenge themselves to achieve even higher goals.

Participant (student) feedback and future aspirations
- It was very interesting. I was very curious about what happens to the planarians after they stop moving. I would like to learn more about eye development. I would also like to know about the role of seeds within clones and their survival rates.
- I'm looking forward to the field research. Listening to everyone's presentations at this debriefing session was very inspiring. From now on, it's like the real work of conducting the research and compiling the data, so I'll do my best.
- I was surprised at how thoroughly everyone had researched the topic. I felt like I couldn't be left behind.
- I'm thinking of properly turning the mirror into a telescope.
- It was great to hear each of their fascinating stories. I'd like to delve deeper into these topics in the future.
- I would like to diligently research water fleas so that I can learn more about them.
- I thought everyone was working on seemingly difficult research. Each of their projects sounded interesting.
- Listening to the presentations, I was impressed by everyone's high level of expertise! They were very specialized... and I received a lot of feedback during my own presentation, which I'd like to incorporate into my future research. Also, every topic was very interesting and engaging.
- Everyone was able to answer the questions, and I realized I still have a long way to go. This time I presented on basic topics, so next time I'd like to research something more in-depth. Everyone did really well. The slides were beautiful too.
Finally, we all had a photo session.
