Effective April 1, 2020, the "Office for Supporting Female Researchers" has been renamed the "Office for Promoting a Diversity Research Environment." My name is Yano, and I am the head of this new office.
In 2006, we established the Office for Supporting Female Researchers and have been working to increase the number of female researchers by creating an environment that allows female researchers to continue their careers and by recruiting and training female faculty members in the fields of science, agriculture, and engineering.
Against this backdrop, Hokkaido University was selected for the 2019 Science and Technology Human Resource Development Subsidy Program, "Diversity Research Environment Realization Initiative." Together with its partner institutions (three universities and two companies), Hokkaido University is focusing on promoting the active participation of female and young researchers, aiming to create a research environment where diverse individuals can maximize their abilities.
With the aim of promoting the further success and evolution of not only women but also diverse talent, as well as the Hokkaido region, we will now establish the "Diversity Research Environment Promotion Office" and advance our projects under this new name.
We would appreciate your continued understanding and cooperation with our office.
