Applications are now open for the "Return-to-Work Support Program: Grant for English Proofreading of Submitted Papers"!

This project, as part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Diversity Research Realization Initiative (Leading Type)" (2019-2024), will support the costs of English proofreading of academic journal articles submitted by researchers whose research has been interrupted due to maternity leave, childcare leave, etc. There are no gender restrictions on the recipients of this support.
【Overview】
Eligibility: Researchers affiliated with this university who have completed a research interruption of 30 days or more due to maternity leave, childcare leave, etc., within the three years prior to the application date.
Support details: Support for the cost of English proofreading of papers submitted to academic journals by the applicant as the first author or corresponding author.
The English proofreading must be completed and the final product delivered by February 15, 2021.

From the Cabinet Office: Emergency survey on initiatives from a gender equality perspective regarding the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Cabinet Office's Gender Equality Bureau has requested that we respond to the above-mentioned questionnaire, which we are providing below.

Regarding measures against the novel coronavirus infection, the government's basic response policy stipulates that these measures will be implemented with due consideration to the impact on women, and Minister Hashimoto, in charge of Gender Equality, has requested relevant ministers to ensure that the burden does not fall disproportionately on women, and that women are not placed in even more difficult situations.
The international community, including the United Nations Women and the OECD, has called for women and girls to be at the center of responses.

I believe that the members of the Council for the Promotion of Gender Equality are also working to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
Therefore, with the aim of being useful in the activities of the legislators, we will conduct a survey on gender equality and issues and initiatives from a woman's perspective.
The responses we receive will be compiled by the secretariat and shared with everyone. They will also be used as reference for government policies.

This year's Inspiring and Innovating Science Awards
The (Inspiring and Innovating Science Award) is,
We focus on two areas: scientific achievements and scientific outreach activities.
This award is administered by Nature Research in cooperation with The Estée Lauder Companies, and applications can be submitted via the online application form until June 14, 2020.
The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony to be held in October 2020.
