Announcement of the start of applications for the 2021 L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Japan Fellowship.

We have received the above announcement from the L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Japan Fellowship Secretariat, and we would like to share it with you below.
 
In cooperation with the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO, we are now accepting applications for the 2021 L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Japan Fellowship, from Wednesday, November 25, 2020 to Sunday, February 28, 2021.
 

In the fields of life sciences and materials sciences, we will select two recipients (two individuals) from each field each year, for a total of four recipients, from among young female scientists who are currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in doctoral programs. The recipients will be presented with a certificate and a scholarship of 1 million yen.

The Japan Fellowship Prize aims to encourage young female scientists in Japan, who will shape the future, to continue their research activities at educational and research institutions within Japan.

To date, 59 female scientists have received this award, and since receiving it, they have pursued diverse careers, including conducting research both domestically and internationally, getting married, having children, and nurturing the next generation.

In addition, the selection committee will choose one recipient from the 2021 Japan Fellowship Award winners to be nominated for the 2022 "L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Award - International Newcomer Award," which is sponsored by L'Oréal Group headquarters and UNESCO headquarters.

From candidates selected from various countries, the top 15 young female scientists who have achieved global recognition in the fields of life sciences, physics, chemistry, engineering, and mathematics will be awarded a prize of approximately 200 million yen.
