The Hokkaido Network for Promoting a Diversity Research Environment (KNIT) will be holding the above-mentioned seminar with the aim of improving the research capabilities, leadership, and management skills of female researchers. The lecturer will be Dr. Iris Wieczorek, Director of the IRIS Institute of Science and Technology Management.

About the Lecturer
Dr. Iris Wiezorek
He established IRIS Institute of Science and Technology Management Co., Ltd. in Tokyo. He has 4 years of experience with Japan, extensive knowledge of academia and science fields in various countries, and possesses both the perspective of an insider researcher and the perspective of a funding agency. In his involvement in science management activities, he established the Japan Representative Office of the German Research Foundation (DFG) in Tokyo and served as its representative for four years. He develops his business based on a broad and reliable network within the Japanese and European science communities. In addition, he has published numerous academic papers on innovation processes and networks in Japanese economics and science from an international comparative perspective. He holds a PhD from the University of Hamburg, where he majored in Japanese Studies, Chinese Studies, and Computer Science.

Dr. Iris Wiezorek
Established IRIS Science Management Inc. in Tokyo. She has over 25 years of Japan experience and a broad knowledge about the academic and scientific systems in Europe and Japan – both from the inside as a researcher and from the position of a funding agency. She has profound expertise in science management and many years of practical experience. Amongst others, she established the Japan Office of the German Research Foundation (DFG) in Tokyo. research policy commitees, and advisor to the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI), Cabinet Office Japan. Moreover, she published numerous scientific papers on comparative assessment of the Japanese research and innovation system. She studied Japanese and Chinese Studies, and Computer Science and holds a doctoral degree from the University of Hamburg, Germany.
