We would like to inform you about the call for applications for the 13th Japan Association of Women Scientists Encouragement Award for fiscal year 2008.
[Purpose] The Japan Women Scientists Association (Chairperson: Noriko Oshima) was established in April 1958 with the aim of "deepening friendship among women scientists, facilitating the exchange of knowledge in various research fields, improving the status of women scientists, and contributing to world peace."
Since 1995, our association has established the "Japan Women Scientists Association Encouragement Award" to support and assist female researchers, and to date, 24 female researchers have received the award.
[Eligibility Requirements] Members of this association (membership is possible upon application) who have made significant research achievements in the field of natural science, demonstrate promising future potential, and are recognized as supporting the association's objectives and working towards their achievement. There are no specific restrictions on age, nationality, or gender, however, those in management positions (professors, department heads, etc.) are not eligible.
[Encouragement Award] Certificate of merit and a prize of 20 yen (1-3 recipients per year)
The gift is presented at the general meeting (usually held in June).
[Application Period] November 1st (Thu) - November 15th (Thu), 2007 (Applications must arrive by this date)
