7. Departmental Initiative Support: Hokkaido University FD/SD Seminar Announcement (Held on July 15th)
Ree-D is implementing a "Program to Support Departmental Initiatives for Promoting a Diverse Research Environment."
With this support, we would like to inform you that an FD/SD seminar hosted by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at our university will be held on Thursday, July 15th.
This seminar will feature presentations by Professor Rika Yano, Director of the Office for Promoting a Diversity Research Environment, and Professor Kaoru Tamada, Vice President of Kyushu University.
Seminar Title: "Initiatives and Management Methods for Promoting Gender Equality and Diversity"
Target: Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, International Joint Research Institute for Zoonosis Control, and all faculty and staff of the university.

When increasing the number of female teachers, it is necessary to take into account the temporary decline in the workforce due to childbirth, childcare, etc.
Temporary absences due to childcare, elder care, illness, sabbatical, etc., which can occur not only among female teachers but also among others, will be covered by other staff members. Both those providing and receiving support need to be prepared and ready.
To create a more supportive work environment for all faculty members, including female teachers, who are experiencing various life events, this faculty development program aims to foster a shared understanding among faculty and staff.

The first installment of the "Otsuka Prize Special" (May 27th) featured an interview with Professor Eiko Otsuka, Professor Emeritus of our university.
★We interviewed him about his research career from his enrollment as a member of the first graduating class of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Hokkaido University to the present, as well as what he would like to convey to the younger generation.
The second installment of the "Otsuka Award Special" (June 3rd) featured interviews with seven individuals who received the Otsuka Award in 2020.
★We interviewed people who have obtained doctoral degrees in various fields about their research topics and reasons for deciding to pursue doctoral studies.

3. Professor Naoko Maishi of the Graduate School of Dental Science receives the Shiseido Women Researcher Science Grant!
Dr. Naoko Maishi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Vascular Biology and Molecular Pathology, Graduate School of Dentistry, our university, has received the 14th Shiseido Women Researchers Science Grant. Congratulations!

Development of new cancer diagnostic and therapeutic methods through tumor vascular control
(Developing new diagnostic and therapeutic methods to control cancer recurrence and metastasis by elucidating the pathogenesis of tumor blood vessels)
