[Call for Applications] FY20 Hayashi Public Trust Fund for Research Grants for Women Natural Scientists: Call for Applications for "Hayashi Fellow" Grants (Application period has ended)

Applications are now being accepted for the FY20 Research Encouragement "Hayashi Fellow" Grant. This grant is for doctoral students and young female researchers, so please refer to the application guidelines below and consider applying.

Application Guidelines for the Research Encouragement Grant "Hayashi Fellow"

[Purpose] In light of the importance of providing outstanding young researchers with the opportunity to dedicate themselves to research based on free thinking in the early stages of their research careers, we will appoint graduate students enrolled in doctoral programs or young female researchers deemed to be of equivalent caliber as "Hayashi Fellows" and provide them with research grants.

[Eligible Research Fields] Fundamental research fields within the natural sciences (the scope includes general chemistry and related fields of physics and biology).

[Eligibility Requirements] Female researchers (regardless of nationality) who meet one of the following criteria as of April 1, 2008, and who are not currently employed in a full-time position. Those who have temporarily stepped away from research are also eligible to apply.
① Those who are enrolled in a doctoral program or a doctoral program for at least one year.
② Individuals who are not enrolled in a doctoral program but are dedicating themselves to research in a manner equivalent to that of those in category ①, with the aim of submitting a doctoral dissertation.

[Employment Period] Within 2 years (from April 2008 onwards)

[Research Grant] 100 million yen per year

[Number of people to be hired] Approximately 5 people

[Institutions engaged in research] Research institutions established by national and private universities, inter-university research institutes, national and public research institutions, special corporations, or non-profit foundations in Japan.

[How to Apply] Follow the "Application Procedure" to prepare the "Application Form" and required documents and submit them to the address listed below. The "Application Procedure" and "Application Form" can be downloaded from the website below (please use A4 size).

[Application Deadline (Postmark valid on the day of submission)] Monday, March 31, 2008

[Selection Method] The selection committee will review the applications, and the final decision will be made by the Foundation's Management Committee. Interviews may be conducted.

[Notification of Selection Results] Applicants will be notified directly by the end of July 2008.

[Reporting of Research Results] A research results report will be submitted by September 2010.
