Application Guidelines for Research Grant Candidates for the Hayashi Women Natural Scientists Research Grant Fund (FY20)
[Purpose] To provide grants to support research by female researchers engaged in fundamental research fields of natural science.
[Eligible Research Fields] Fundamental research fields within the natural sciences (the scope includes general chemistry and related fields of physics and biology).
[Eligible Recipients] Female researchers (regardless of nationality) engaged in research in the fields listed above at universities, inter-university research institutes, colleges of technology, national and public research institutions, or research institutions established by independent administrative agencies, special corporations, or non-profit foundations in Japan. However, university professors and those in equivalent positions are excluded.
[Research Grant Fund - Number of Projects] Approximately 15 projects, totaling approximately 20 million yen (with a limit of approximately 3 million yen per project).
[Use of Research Grants] The expenses eligible for research grants are the cost of purchasing materials necessary for the research and other expenses necessary for promoting the research (travel expenses, subsidies for co-researchers' accommodation expenses, etc.). If accounting is delegated to the affiliated institution, the use of indirect expenses will not be permitted.

[Application Deadline (Postmark valid on the day of submission)] Monday, March 31, 2008
[Selection Method] The selection committee will review the applications, and the final decision will be made by the Fund Management Committee.
[Notification of Selection Results] Applicants will be notified directly by the end of July 2008.
[Disbursement of subsidies] The subsidies will be disbursed around the end of October 2008.
