Hokkaido University plans to communicate its stance and commitment to the international community (in December) regarding the philosophy of "diversity and inclusion," which is essential to the foundation of human society from the perspective of respecting human rights and to the university's role in "contributing to solving global challenges."
In conjunction with this, we will be holding a "Diversity & Inclusion Campaign" over a six-month period to raise awareness within the university.
Various events will be held that everyone can participate in, including light-ups, lectures, symposiums, and book exhibitions.

As the first phase of our Diversity & Inclusion Campaign, we will be lighting up the Furukawa Memorial Hall.
In support of the Cabinet Office's "Campaign to Eliminate Violence Against Women," we will light up the Furukawa Memorial Auditorium and the ginkgo tree-lined avenue in purple, the symbolic color of the campaign.
The purpose is to raise awareness among members of the university community regarding respect for women's human rights and harassment and discriminatory behavior.
In addition, to raise awareness within the university, we are sending leaflets about the "Campaign to Eliminate Violence Against Women" to each department. We are also sending out cards that introduce resources for those who are experiencing difficulties, so let's spread awareness so that these reach those who need them.
Date and Time: November 12th-13th (17:00-20:30)
Location: Furukawa Memorial Auditorium, Hokkaido University (Kita 9-jo Nishi 7-chome, Kita-ku, Sapporo)
The lighting ceremony will be held on the 12th.

Ree-D is implementing a "Program to Support Departmental Initiatives for Promoting a Diverse Research Environment."
Thanks to this support, seminars hosted by the Faculty of Media and Communication at our university will be held on November 10th (Wed), 17th (Wed), and 22nd (Mon).
Name: Brown Bag Lunch (BBL)
Theme: Internationalization
Guest Speaker: Auri Richard, Lecturer, Institute for International Future Education, Chiba University
Target audience: General public, students, researchers
Language used: Primarily English (English support is available; please let us know during registration if you require it).
Overview:
The reason I came up with the idea for BBL is that during this pandemic, opportunities to meet people have decreased, and I felt that opportunities to connect with people who share the same interests have also decreased.
Therefore, I want to create a relaxed atmosphere where people can easily participate while having lunch, and connect with others who share common interests.
The theme we've chosen for this project is "internationalization." But what exactly is "internationalization"? What are your thoughts?
People who have returned to Japan after living abroad
People from overseas
We warmly welcome applicants who have experience working with people from overseas.
In recent years, the number of foreigners living in Japanese society, as well as those with experience living or contact with other countries, has increased, resulting in greater diversity in nationality and overseas experience.
At Hokkaido University, approximately 10% of the faculty and staff are foreign nationals.
There is a lack of networks among people with such diverse cultural backgrounds. Let's take this opportunity to connect with each other and use this to create a society and workplace that values diversity.

First BBL Meeting: November 10th, 12:10-12:55
