The Office for Promoting a Diversity Research Environment aims to help female researchers at our university strengthen their leadership skills through the organization of research meetings and other events, and to build a global network that will lead to future research development."Support for female researchers to hold online international research conferences, etc." (Applications for FY2021 are now closed)We are doing the following.
Thanks to this support, an online seminar was held on September 20, 2021 (Monday), presented by Professor Junko Morimoto of the Faculty of Agriculture at our university.
Seminar Title: Online seminar by Dr. Robert Scheller: "Landscape Management in the Face of Climate Change"
Number of participants: 78
Below, I will introduce the report.
A leader's primary role is to "present a vision," and in this regard, we were able to address this by demonstrating the interconnectedness of the process to all stakeholders through pre-event reading sessions, the execution of the seminar on the day, and the post-event report in the academic journal.
Regarding the establishment and strengthening of a global network, significant achievements were made, such as the fact that the President of the International Society for Landscape Ecology, who delivered the keynote speech at the seminar, recognized the key members of the Japanese Society for Landscape Ecology, and that the Director of The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), with whom we collaborated in sessions of other academic societies, served as the moderator for a discussion.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity.
