On Wednesday, October 28, 2011, nine of the 17 female faculty members (F3 level) who were newly hired between 2009 and 2011 under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Project to Accelerate Reform of the Female Researcher Training System" subsidy program met with President Hiroshi Saeki of our university in the President's office.
After the discussion, Professor Saeki and nine female F3 faculty members took a commemorative photo under a hanging scroll inscribed with the words "Boys Be ambitious," written by Inazo Nitobe (a second-generation graduate of Sapporo Agricultural College) (bottom photo). It was a fruitful discussion in which the president and F3 faculty members all shared and reaffirmed the idea that "Girls also Be ambitious" is the future of Hokkaido University.
