On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hokkaido University,DEIThe Promotion Headquarters will co-host a diversity symposium.
For new employees, "fulfillment" is a top reason for choosing a job. As they continue working for three, five years, and beyond, their position in the workplace and their personal lives change, and the responsibilities they bear increase. Their goals will likely change as they gain more experience. But are they all truly leading healthy and positive lives?
A win-win relationship where everyone is fulfilled is strongly influenced by the workplace environment. The already problematic low rate of female managers and the low rate of men taking paternity leave clearly reflect the state of Japanese society. Evaluating people for management positions simply because they can allocate more time to the workplace perpetuates the same old way of thinking and creates a further negative spiral in the workplace. While striving towards goals is expected, it should not come at the cost of forced endurance or sacrifice.
This symposium will provide insights from leading companies that are proactively addressing these challenges and finding solutions, as well as summarize the current state and challenges in academia.
