We held an event titled "What's Beyond 'I Love Science!'? ~Thinking Together About STEM Jobs~"

On Saturday, November 11th, we held an event titled "What Comes After 'I Love Science!'? – Thinking Together About STEM Jobs" at the Sapporo City Gender Equality Center located inside Sapporo El Plaza. Seventeen female junior and senior high school students and their guardians participated.
"I like science, but how will it be useful in the future?"
To answer the questions of those of you who have such concerns, we asked Mikako Ichioka from Sapporo City Hall and Manami Maki from NTT Facilities Hokkaido Corporation to share their experiences as senior female science and engineering students.
We heard stories about how they chose to pursue science and engineering and arrived at their current career choices. We received a lot of positive feedback, such as how it clarified their vague image of "science and engineering," how it connects to various careers, and how it was good to hear about their part-time jobs during their student days. Parents also commented that they were glad to learn that even if their child is not good at math, they can still pursue science and engineering. Thank you to the instructors, Ms. Ichioka and Ms. Maki, and to all the participants.
