On Wednesday, August 29th, we held the "Hokkaido University Science and Engineering Support Caravan" at Fuji Women's Junior and Senior High School in Sapporo City.
Approximately 300 junior and senior high school students participated in the event, which took place during the sixth period and after school. Thirteen different experiment and hands-on booths were set up at the venue, and the students visited various booths while listening to talks about university life and research.
The caravan members (students) were overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the girls' school, but they explained things with great enthusiasm.
This was the booth for the Department of Health Sciences at the School of Medicine. They had activities such as how to wrap diapers and a pregnancy simulation.
The Low Temperature Science Institute's booth. Helmets are essential equipment for the Antarctic research team. There was also Antarctic ice on display.
The veterinary medicine department's booth. Chicken meat was "sutured" with surgical thread.
