1. (Repost) International Symposium ~Learning from the University of Oulu, Finland, the Happiest Country in the World~ Announcement of "The Current State and Future Prospects of Gender" in Finnish and Japanese Academia (12/16)

University of Oulu, FinlandDEIWe will host an international symposium with gender and human resources experts to explore the current state and future prospects of gender in academia in Finland and Japan.
At the University of Oulu in Finland and in the EUDEILearn from their efforts,DEIWe will share the significance of this initiative and the challenges for the future. We hope to share the learning experiences that will lead to significant changes toward a better educational and research environment with a wide range of students and faculty members.
*This event will be held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and webinar sessions.
*Simultaneous interpretation available
*Participation in only a portion of the session, such as the morning or afternoon, is also possible.

2. Call for applications for the "Support Personnel Program for Balancing Research Activities and Life Events" for the first semester of FY2026.

This support program aims to help researchers at this university, whose time dedicated to their work decreases due to life events such as childbirth, childcare, and elder care, to balance their research activities with these life events and smoothly carry out their duties by providing assistance for the employment costs of research support personnel.
Those wishing to apply should carefully read the application guidelines and submit their application form to the administrative staff of their respective department or division. The deadline for submission to headquarters is January 13th (Tuesday), but the deadline for submission to administrative staff of each department or division may differ. Please check with your local department or division.

3. Call for applications for the 2026 "Support for Personnel to Balance Research Activities and the Advancement of Female Leaders"

This program provides financial support for the employment costs of personnel who assist female researchers affiliated with Hokkaido University who hold key positions both inside and outside the university, such as those involved in university administration and social contribution, enabling them to balance their research activities with social contribution activities and excel as female leaders.
Those wishing to apply should carefully read the application guidelines and submit their application form to the administrative staff of their respective department or division. The deadline for submission to headquarters is January 15th (Thursday), but the deadline for submission to administrative staff of each department or division may differ. Please check with your local department or division.

4. Role Model Interview: FIKA No. 17 Shoko Kohama

CoSTEP andDEIFIKA, a collaborative project of the Promotion Headquarters, is a role model interview series. It's an interview project that introduces role models who can be helpful to people who are struggling or thinking about their careers and future paths. The 17th issue of FIKA features Shoko Kohama, Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy.
