As of April 1, 2006, two female researchers were appointed as professors: Professor Miki Haseyama of the Graduate School of Information Science (promoted from associate professor in the same graduate school) and Professor Masako Kato of the Graduate School of Science (from Nara Women's University). Of the 35 new professors appointed this time, only two were women. We wish them both the best in their endeavors and hope that the activities of the support office will lead to an increase in the number of female professors in the future.
