This is an announcement for the public symposium hosted by the Science Council of Japan, titled "In the AI Era, Who Will Have a Fair Future? – High School Students Discuss Gender, Minorities, and Career Paths."

The rapid proliferation of generative AI is dramatically changing the way we learn, choose our career paths, and participate in society. On the other hand, because AI learns existing societal values and biases, it has been pointed out that it may reproduce and amplify biases against gender and minorities. In particular, as AI increasingly plays a role in advising and decision-making in high school students' career choices and in educational settings, it is necessary to re-examine what constitutes a "fair career path."
This symposium, primarily aimed at high school students and teachers, will bring together researchers with a broad perspective on AI society, educators, and experts in policy and gender studies to consider fairness and the role of civic education in the age of AI. We will discuss the perspectives and actions required of us now to create a future where no one is left behind.
