◆Why not join the "Science and Engineering Support Caravan Team"?
The Office for Supporting Female Researchers has the desire to "increase the number of female science and engineering students."
We conduct the "Science Support Caravan Team" activity, primarily targeting junior and senior high school girls.
The Science and Engineering Support Caravan team will visit junior and senior high schools in Sapporo and other regional cities throughout Hokkaido.
We will set up an experimental booth and allow junior and senior high school students to freely experience the booths within the venue.
Through experiences and interactions, we aim to convey the appeal of research to junior and senior high school students and deepen their interest in and understanding of science-related career paths.

What the caravan team does
We will visit junior and senior high schools in Sapporo and other regional cities throughout Hokkaido, and set up multiple experimental booths.
Junior and senior high school students can freely experience the booths within the venue.
1) The research lab or a group of volunteers will come up with an attractive experimental booth.
Experiments and booths that will make event participants (customers) think, "I want to go check that out!"
Let's plan the structure. Within the limited event time, we want to convey the appeal of research to as many junior and senior high school students as possible.
To effectively convey your message, you need to be creative with your booth title and introductory text.
2) We will set up booths at junior high schools, high schools, and public facilities.
We arrive at the junior high or high school venue in a bus loaded with experimental equipment (when it's nearby, we gather on-site).
(Jointly) We will have a booth in the school gymnasium. Various science and engineering faculties from Hokkaido University will have booths.
They will be exhibiting.
3) Explain the experiment to junior and senior high school students.
While conducting experiments and giving explanations to junior and senior high school students who come to the booth, we conveyed the fun aspects of research.
I'm going to tell you something difficult. I'll talk about university life as well as research, and
I hope that the junior and senior high school students from before will one day come to Hokkaido University to conduct research, and I enjoyed interacting with them.
Yes. Sometimes there are tough questions, but they can provide hints for new research.
It's also possible to...
Financial matters
Students are employed as short-term support staff and receive a small amount of compensation for the time spent (salary)
We will pay you a fee. Therefore, students who have lectures during the activity time cannot participate.
• Consumables and other items needed for the experiment will be purchased by the Women Researchers Support Office.
〇 Benefits for participants
~Participant Feedback~
<student>
- The process of designing easy-to-understand experiments deepened my understanding of my own research.
- I've gained a little more confidence in explaining my research in an easy-to-understand way.
<Teacher>
- It served as a good starting point and achievement for outreach activities.
- It seems to have fostered good communication within the research lab, and the atmosphere has improved.
Recently, grants have emerged that require outreach activities.
Please feel free to use it.
