Sumitomo Life Insurance is pleased to announce its "3nd Future-Building Childcare Project - Support for Female Researchers."
[Purpose] This program provides grants to female researchers who are finding it difficult to continue their research due to childcare responsibilities, as well as to female researchers who are continuing their research while raising children, to help them maintain and continue their research and living environments.
[Rules]
① Having a major in the humanities or social sciences and possessing a meaningful research topic.
② Currently raising a preschool-aged child (a child who has not yet started elementary school).
③ In principle, applicants must hold a master's degree or be enrolled in or have obtained a doctoral degree.
④ You must have at least two recommenders (one of whom must be a supervisor or head of the university or research institute where you have worked or will work).
⑤ Currently affiliated with a university or research institute, or intending to do so.
⑥ This is limited to those who have not received research grants from other award or grant programs in the year they are receiving support (childcare leave benefits, etc., do not count as research grants).
⑦ Nationality is not a requirement, but applications must be submitted in Japanese.
[Award] “Sumisei Female Researcher Support” for approximately 10 people
We will provide a grant of up to 1 million yen per year for a maximum of two years.
The payment period is scheduled to be two years, from April 2010 to March 2012.
[Application Deadline] Must be received by September 30, 2009
