We held our first FResHU lunch meeting of 2009.
Despite the rainy weather, we welcomed 11 participants and enjoyed a lively and friendly discussion under the theme of "Shall we collaborate on research?"
The participants came from a wide range of fields, including the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, and several individuals from fields that fall between traditional academic disciplines also participated.
Despite the organizers' concerns that "there might be such a lack of communication that it could end up being boring rather than a collaborative research project," it seems that many participants had an enjoyable and meaningful time.
Furthermore, we were able to hear opinions from diverse perspectives, as we had participation not only from women but also from men.
In the second half, we listened to students' concerns in the lab and discussed them together, allowing us to exchange opinions not only on research content but also on research life.
The conversation continued well past the scheduled end time, with several groups continuing to chat privately afterward. Some participants gained information that could be applied to their research or skill development, and some couples (both women) even emerged whose skills and knowledge requirements perfectly matched, suggesting a potential collaborative research project. It seems that the event went beyond simple face-to-face communication and yielded more tangible results than expected.

I know everyone was busy with classes, experiments, and other things, but I wanted to thank you all for taking the time to attend. Some even brought their babies! Thank you so much for coming.
The support office will continue to hold events like this, where everyone can have a fun and meaningful time, and provide opportunities for diverse encounters.
