The seventh installment of "To Aspiring Scientists: Messages from Female Scientists" featured a lecture by Professor Yoko Mitani of the Northern Biosphere Field Science Center, titled "Field Marine Mammalogy in Hokkaido."
Professor Mitani gave a clear and easy-to-understand talk about her motivation for research and its connection to society, including her genuine desire to understand ecology and how accumulating basic knowledge can lead to solving problems in the fishing industry. She also spoke from the perspective of balancing fieldwork, which includes long-term surveys, with raising children. Thank you, Professor Mitani!
