You have probably already been notified through your academic society or department, but the deadline for the "4th Large-Scale Questionnaire of the Liaison Council of Academic Societies for Gender Equality" is...This weekend, Friday, October 21stThis survey is important as it serves as fundamental data for policy making and considering gender equality in universities.
The survey targets a wide range of natural science scientists and engineers (including students) in Japan, regardless of gender, employment status, or affiliated academic societies. Therefore, if you are among the target group and have not yet responded, please do so.

Women Engineers Networking Event ~Mechanical Engineering Girls' Gathering in Hokkaido~
Ms. Kaori Shigetomi of the Nitobe School has requested that we spread the following information. The venue is that restaurant that bread and Le Creuset lovers will absolutely adore.
The Ladies' Association of JSME (LAJ) is engaged in various activities aimed at supporting the activities of female researchers and engineers in the field of mechanical engineering and increasing its female membership. We are planning to hold a meeting in Sapporo where women in various fields of mechanical engineering, from students to working professionals, can easily exchange ideas. Please come! We also welcome inquiries about bringing children.
Date and Time: Saturday, October 29, 2016, 15:00-17:00
Location: Brasserie Colon with Le Creuset (Marui Imai Sapporo Main Store, Odori Building 3F)
Participation fee: 2500 yen (1500 yen for students)
Objectives: To facilitate interaction and networking among female members, engineers, and female students aspiring to become engineers (researchers), to share insights into daily company life, to exchange opinions on career design, and to hear the real voices of female engineers and researchers, etc.
Eligibility: Women who meet the above objectives (female engineers/researchers, female students) (Members of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers are not required).

Lecture by female researchers at Nitobe College
Nitobe College, which cultivates internationally-minded students, frequently holds lectures that are open to students and faculty members from outside of Nitobe College.
Fayna Garcia Martin, Assistant Professor at the Institute for Advanced Biosciences, will be giving a lecture at that conference. Those interested are encouraged to attend.

Seeking booth exhibitors for a science event for elementary school students.
The Office for Supporting Female Researchers will be holding an event on Saturday, December 17th.NPO ButukuraWe will be co-hosting "Sapporo Science Festa 2016 in Hokkaido University," a science experience event for elementary and junior high school students. Therefore, we are seeking groups to set up science experience booths.
This is a fun event with approximately 600 attendees, mainly elementary school students.
The first deadline for group applications is November 1st. Please see the application guidelines below for details.
