Application Guidelines for the FY2010 Research Encouragement "Hayashi Fellow" Grant

1. Purpose
To outstanding female researchers to dedicate themselves to research based on free thinking and initiative in the early stages of their research careers.
In light of the importance of providing opportunities, graduate students enrolled in doctoral programs and researchers deemed to be of equivalent status
He was appointed as a "Hayashi Fellow" and provided with research grants.

2. Fields eligible for grants
Basic research in natural sciences (the scope of which includes general chemistry and physics and biology related to chemistry)
This will be my field of study.

3. Eligible recipients
As of April 1, 2010, female researchers (regardless of nationality) who meet any of the following criteria and are in a full-time position
Applicants must not be currently employed. Those who have temporarily stepped away from research activities are also eligible to apply.
① Those who have been enrolled in a doctoral program or a doctoral program for at least one year.
② Although not enrolled in a doctoral program, they are conducting research in the same manner as those in ① with the aim of submitting a doctoral dissertation.
Someone who is dedicated to something.

4. Recruitment period
Within 2 years (after April 2010)

5. Research grants (delegated accounting is not permitted.)
Annual allowance of 1 million yen (paid in installments of 250,000 yen every three months).

6. Number of planned hires
Approximately 5 people (new)

7. Institutions engaged in research
In Japan, national, public, and private universities, inter-university research institutes, national and public research institutions, special corporations, or for-profit organizations
A research institution established by the Shinai Foundation.

8. How to apply
Follow the "Application Procedure" to prepare the "Application Form" and required documents and send them to the contractor.

9. Application deadline [Postmark must be dated on or before this date]
March 31, 2010 (Wednesday) [Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.]

10. Selection Method
The selection committee will review the applications, and the final decision will be made by the Fund Management Committee. Interviews may be conducted.

11. Notification of Selection Results
Applicants will be notified directly around the latter half of July to the first half of August 2010.

  1. Grant of subsidy
    The first payment will be made around late August to early September 2010. Generally, payments will be made every three months, in June, September, December, and March.
    However, if you lose your eligibility for the grant, such as by obtaining a doctoral degree, during the grant period, the payment will be suspended from the following month.

13. Reporting of Research Results
The research report (in English is acceptable for foreign nationals) must be submitted without delay by September 2012.
