On November 14th (Tuesday), we held our first seminar for senior management personnel, titled "Current Status and Future Prospects of Gender Equality and Support for Female Researchers at Hokkaido University and Other University Research Institutions." 

The first "Senior Management Seminar" was held for faculty and staff in senior management positions responsible for the operation of universities, departments, etc. The aim was to deepen their interest in and understanding of the problems and current situation faced by female researchers, to foster mutual understanding through discussions between men and women on gender equality in education and research, and to create a better environment for gender equality within the organization.

Professor Sanae Ariga, Director/Vice President of the Office for Supporting Female Researchers (moderator), and Professor Hisako Otsubo, Visiting Professor of the Office for Supporting Female Researchers, gave lectures on issues faced by female researchers, including raising awareness that childbirth and childcare are family-building activities that should be undertaken jointly by men and women, supporting school-aged children from the perspective of nurturing and increasing the number of female principal investigators, and the importance of care support for the elderly, as well as employment and work-related issues.
