We held the 7th "Meet the FResHU" role model roundtable discussion.

On Friday, July 13th, we held the 7th "Meet the FResHU" role model discussion. This time, our speaker was Kazuko Niki, a pharmacist in the Department of Pharmacy at Hokkaido University Hospital.
Dr. Niki, who is active as a pharmacist while also conducting research, gave us a detailed explanation of personalized medicine, which involves prescribing medication after molecular-level testing tailored to an individual's constitution and disease characteristics, as well as the effects and side effects of drugs. He also spoke about the gap between his perspective as a researcher and that of a pharmacist, his confusion about shifting from studying cells and mice to studying humans, and his anxiety about the lack of role models who are both researchers and pharmacists.
Regarding parenting, she realized that after a certain age, meticulous support becomes necessary, and individualized care is required to understand and address each child's unique personality!
Individualization is about observation to find key elements. The presentation also included a follow-up from the husband, which resonated with the participants.
Thank you very much, Professor Niki and all the participants.
The Women Researchers Support Office is planning to hold monthly discussion meetings until November. The next meeting is scheduled for August 28th (Tuesday)! Please join us.
