Results of the survey conducted in FY29 targeting female faculty and staff

Survey for Female Teachers

We are pleased to announce the results of the "Survey for Female Faculty Members" conducted in February 2018. This survey was conducted to investigate the awareness of "women's advancement in the workplace" among female faculty members of this university, and responses were received from 138 female faculty members (response rate 41.7%). The main results are as follows.

Result summary
Respondents have reported experiencing differences in gender equality depending on their position, and have observed differences in how men and women are treated and interacted with. Regarding opportunities for researchers to demonstrate their abilities, many cited "research time being reduced during childbirth and childcare," and expressed a desire for fair evaluation. In addition, regarding the promotion of women's advancement, there were many responses, including the opinion that women should be allowed to participate in university decision-making.

Survey for Female Staff

We are pleased to announce the results of the "Survey on the Awareness of Female Staff Members" conducted in January 2018. This survey was conducted to investigate the awareness of "women's advancement in the workplace" among female faculty and staff members of this university, and responses were received from 250 female staff members (response rate 58.7%). The main results are as follows.

Result summary
Hokkaido University is generally perceived as a comfortable workplace, with easy access to vacation and leave policies. However, there are differences in how men and women are treated and interacted with depending on their age, and differences in how they perceive work and opportunities that allow them to utilize their abilities. Furthermore, there is a strong desire for environmental improvements that accommodate changes in lifestyles, enabling women to fully utilize their abilities.
