On February 27th (Sat) and March 6th (Sat), 2021, we held an online event, "24 Hours in the Life of a University Student," as part of our support program for female junior and senior high school students choosing science-related career paths. This event was co-sponsored by the KDDI Foundation and the Diversity Research Environment Promotion Office of the Human Resource Development Headquarters at Hokkaido University, and was open to a wide audience including junior and senior high school students, parents, and teachers, regardless of gender. On Sunday, January 27th, the "Sapporo Science Festa in Hokkaido University" was held at the Academic Exchange Hall. This year, as before, many visitors arrived even before the start, and all the booths were bustling with activity from 10:1 AM onwards. On September 29th (Saturday), we held "Shikkari Medical," a career guidance program for junior and senior high school girls interested in becoming doctors. Thirty junior and senior high school students and ten parents participated. At the event, Dr. Kaoruko Shimizu, a specially appointed assistant professor at the Hokkaido University Hospital's Gender Equality Promotion Office, served as a lecturer, discussing the appeal and realities of the medical profession. On Sunday, March 4th, we held the "Sapporo Science Festa in Hokkaido University" at the Academic Exchange Hall. This year, we had a total of 14 booths, and visitors were already lining up before the 10:30 AM start time. As soon as the event began, long lines formed, making it a huge success. We were delighted to record a record-breaking attendance of approximately 1400 people, but we also felt sorry for those who had to wait in line for long periods, and for some booths that had to close by lunchtime due to overwhelming demand...

On Sunday, January 21st, the third session of the lecture-style experiment series "Solid Science!" for junior and senior high school girls was held at Hokkaido University's Hakodate Campus. An event for junior and senior high school girls, "Fun with Science! ~Let's Learn About Various Sciences~ in Asahikawa," was held on July 22nd at Asahikawa Nishi High School!
