Overview
Hokkaido University is running the “WinGS (Women in Global Science) Project” to promote international activities of female faculty members as a part of the Program for Promoting the Enhancement of Research Universities. The WinGS Project sets up “Global Networking Award” aiming to encourage globally active women faculties of Hokkaido University to show up on international stages and to create global networks.
Content of the Awards
In addition to commendation, travel expenses and registration fees for attending international academic congresses/meetings and “Plus-One Visit” will be supplied (up to 400,000YEN)
Eligible applicants
Women assistant professors, lecturers, and associate professors at Hokkaido University, including specially appointed faculty members.
Requirements for the application
The applicants must meet the following conditions:
- 1st:Having oral or poster presentation as the first author at international academic congresses/meetings as well as finishing travel before November 30th 2019.
- 2nd:Having oral or poster presentation as the first author at international academic congresses/meetings as well as finishing travel before March 31st, 2020.
- Plus-One Visit: Visiting researchers or institutions for pioneering, expanding, promoting research collaboration, on the way to or from the congress/meeting.
Winner will be asked to take a presentation training organized by FResHU before the travel.

Selection Procedure
Applications appropriately submitted are evaluated on the basis of a) the significance of the applied presentation at the congress/meeting and the proposed visit, and b) recent activities of the applicants, by the Selection Committee comprising of 5 – 7 professors who are annually delegated by Head of FResHU Office according to the conditions below.
- 1 professor in the research field of science should be included.
- 1 professor in the research field of engineering should be included.
- 1 professor in the research field of agricultural sciences should be included.
- 1 professor in the research field of medical and health sciences should be included.
- 1 – 2 professors can be additionally included if necessary.
- At least 50 % of the committee members should be female.
- At least 1 male member should be included.
- Chair of the committee is designated among the members by the Head of FResHU Office.
