DEIThe Promotion Headquarters will be holding a seminar to support the improvement of leadership and management skills among female researchers. The lecturer will be Dr. Iris Wieczorek, Director of the IRIS Institute of Science and Technology Management.
This seminar is a three-part series (① December 20, ② January 26, 2023, ③ February 16, 2023) that provides practical knowledge of leadership and research management skills.
Each seminar is independent in content, so you can register for individual sessions.

Introducing the instructor
Dr. Iris Wiezorek

He holds a PhD from the University of Hamburg, specializing in Japanese Studies, Chinese Studies, and Computer Science. His involvement with Japan spans approximately 30 years. He has also been involved in research management and training for over 20 years, possessing extensive knowledge of the academic and scientific systems of Japan and Europe. In 2000, he joined the GIGA Asia Institute in Hamburg, an organization of the Leibniz Society, where he worked on comparative evaluations of Japan's science and innovation systems. In 2008, he established the Japan office of the German Research Foundation (DFG) in Tokyo, where he served as director until 2012. Subsequently, he established the IRIS Institute for Science and Technology Management in Tokyo, providing support for young researchers' career development training, diversity training, research management, and international relations in science. He has a broad and trusted network within the scientific and political communities of Japan and Europe, and serves on various research policy committees in Japan.
