L'Oréal Japan Co., Ltd., in cooperation with the Japanese National Commission for UNESCO, is accepting applications for the 12th L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Japan Fellowship until February 28, 2017.
Established in 2005, this award aims to encourage young Japanese female scientists who will shape the future to continue their research activities at educational and research institutions within Japan.
Target
Women under 40 years old who are currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in a doctoral program in the fields of life sciences or materials sciences.
Number of scholarship awards
In principle, two awards (two recipients) will be selected each year from the fields of life sciences and materials sciences, for a total of four awards (four recipients). The recipients will receive a certificate of merit and a scholarship of 1 million yen.
In addition, the selection committee will choose one recipient from the 2017 Japan Fellowship Award winners to be nominated for the 2018 L'Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Award – International Newcomer Award, which is sponsored by L'Oréal Group headquarters (Paris) and UNESCO (Paris).
From candidates selected from various countries, the top 15 young female scientists who have achieved global recognition in the fields of life sciences, physics, chemistry, engineering, and mathematics will be awarded a prize of approximately 200 million yen.
