Our university's sick child care support system, "Sanrinsha," will be discontinued on March 31, 2017.
Since 2008, Hokkaido University has been operating the "Sanrinsha" sick child care support system to provide childcare support for female faculty members and other staff at the university. Subsequently, Sapporo City and surrounding municipalities have successively started operating similar support measures called "Emergency Support Networks," and in Sapporo City, particularly generous subsidies for usage of 3 hours or more per session have been provided since March 2013. Sapporo City's "Children's Emergency Support Network," which can be used by Sapporo residents (including staff residing outside of Sapporo City) who are eligible to use "Sanrinsha," is often more advantageous than "Sanrinsha" in terms of usage time and subsidies (see table below).
For these reasons, our university's sick child care support system has been a pioneer in providing sick child care support to female faculty members and others at our university. However, in light of the recent introduction of similar support measures by local governments and other organizations, we have decided to terminate this support measure as of March 31, 2017.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to those who have used our services in the past, as you will now need to register with the Sapporo City or other childcare services for sick children. We appreciate your understanding.
