About this support / Purpose
As part of Hokkaido University's Super Global University Project, the "Hokkaido Universal Campus Initiative" will provide opportunities for female researchers who find it difficult to travel abroad due to pregnancy, childbirth, or childcare to invite researchers from overseas and promote collaborative research, such as research meetings.
Hokkaido University has been running “Top Global University Project (MEXT)”. In this project, FResHU offer a support program for women researchers who has difficulties in traveling abroad due to pregnancy, childbirth, child-care. It provides them an opportunity to invite researchers from foreign countries to have deep discussion on their research.
Total amount of aid and number of applicants to be adopted
- This program provides subsidies for the travel expenses (transportation and accommodation) and honoraria of invited researchers.
- The invitation period is expected to be approximately 5 to 10 days.
- The maximum amount of compensation is 100,000 yen per case.
- Travel expense subsidies are capped at 290,000 yen per case. However, airfare and accommodation will primarily be provided in kind.
- Two projects (from two individuals) are planned to be selected.

This program gives a financial support for travel expenses (transportation and hotel expenses) and for honorarium of the invited researcher.
- The period of the invitation is approximately 5 – 10 days.
- The maximum amount of the financial support is;
100,000 yen for the honorarium,
travel equivalent to 290,000 yen - Basically, air tickets and hotel expenses are in-kind payments.
- Two applicants are to be adopted.
Support Requirements / Possible Candidate of the Support
- This program supports female researchers (including faculty members (including specially appointed faculty) and postdoctoral researchers*) affiliated with Hokkaido University who find it difficult to travel abroad for research exchanges due to pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, etc.

To hold one seminar during the invitation period, featuring the invited researcher as the lecturer, for researchers and students, on the themes of work-life balance and career development for researchers (co-sponsored by the Office for Supporting Female Researchers).
*Including JSPS Postdoctoral Fellows conducting research at Hokkaido University.

Women researchers(faculty staff and Postdoctoral Researcher) at Hokkaido Univ. who have difficulty in traveling overseas due to pregnancy, childbirth, child-care.
- The successful applicants are also required to hold a seminar on career development, work-life balance for researchers within the invitation period.

Duties of successful applicants
Those selected for this support will be subject to the following obligations.
- Communication and coordination with invited researchers
- Submission of implementation report
You will be required to submit a report, intended for public release, within one month of the completion of the support program. A simple report is acceptable, but it may be used by the support office to assist with the Women Researchers Support Program. - Responses to the follow-up survey of the collaborative research project
Twelve months after the end of the support period, we will send you a follow-up questionnaire regarding the progress of the collaborative research related to this support. Please complete it. -
Communications and adjustment with invited researcher
- Report
The successful applicants are to submit a report to FResHU within a month after the invitation. The report will open in public and FResHU office may use reports to improve and develop the future support program for women researchers. - Follow-up questionnaire
We will send the successful applicants a follow-up questionnaire about the progress of the collaborative research related to this support in 12 months after the end of support.
